There’s no question that photography, both still and motion, is a very equipment-intensive profession. We use a lot of stuff, from the obvious cameras, lenses and lights to the unglamorous, unsung heroes of production like C-stands, power cables and gaff tape. It’s definitely not healthy to get too hung up on gear; the excuse “my photography would be so much better if I only had better gear!” is all too common (and is in large part false – a one of my favorite still photos I’ve ever shot was taken on a $2.99 disposable plastic-and-cardboard film camera from CVS). At the same time though, it is inescapable that gear is integral to our profession. So here, for whatever value it’s worth, is a list of the equipment I use.

(A couple of notes: First, like most photographers, still or motion or both, the gear I use is always changing. This is what I’m using at the moment. Second, all these links go to Amazon via my affiliate link, which help support my blogging on this site, but which don’t add any cost to the buyer.)
